Torrance · South Bay

A precision CNC machine shop minutes from Torrance's aerospace corridor.

Ten minutes from Crenshaw and Western, machining structural, medical and industrial parts to Torrance's supplier requirements since 1986. Standard production tolerances of ±.0005″ on turned diameters and ±.001″ on milled features, with critical features held to ±.0001″ where the print requires it.

RJ Enterprises Swiss turning department in Gardena, California

Torrance sits at the center of the South Bay's aerospace and industrial base, home to major primes, a dense layer of Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers, and a growing electronics and medical device sector around the Del Amo and Hawthorne Boulevard corridors. Our facility at 149 E 162nd Street in Gardena is a short, direct drive from most of it — typically 15 to 20 minutes from Torrance Airport or the 190th Street industrial area, depending on 405 traffic.

That proximity matters most when a program is behind schedule. A Torrance buyer can walk a print over in person, watch a first article get measured on the ZEISS ACCURA CMM, and leave with a firm delivery date instead of a callback. For standing programs, we run local pickup and delivery on a routine basis rather than treating every shipment like a freight quote.

Torrance customers tend to order two kinds of work: structural aerospace hardware — brackets, housings and titanium fittings machined on our 5-axis centers for prime and sub-tier programs — and small precision components for the area's medical device and instrumentation companies, run on our sixteen Swiss-type lathes. Both run under the same AS9100D quality system, with material traceability and first-article inspection available on every release.

Machining services available to Torrance

CNC Milling

Ten vertical machining centers running prototype through production quantities, with milled features held to a standard ±.001 in and critical callouts to ±.0001 in where the print requires it.

5-Axis Machining

Five simultaneous 5-axis machining centers for impellers, contoured housings, brackets and any part where every additional setup is another chance to stack error.

Swiss Turning

Sixteen Swiss-type lathes — Citizen L12, L20 and L32, Citizen/Miyano BNX and BNA, Tsugami S205-II and B0325V-II — holding ±.0005 in on turned diameters with as-machined finishes that rarely need a secondary operation.

CNC Turning

Eight turning centers, several with Y-axis and sub-spindle, so a chucked part is turned, milled, drilled and finished on the back side without leaving the machine.

Inspection & Metrology

A climate-controlled inspection lab with a ZEISS ACCURA CMM, a Mitutoyo Crysta-Apex EX, four Keyence IM image dimension systems and a fully calibrated gage library.

Secondary Operations

Tapping, drilling, grinding, deburring, assembly and laser marking in-house, with anodize, passivation, plating, heat treat and NDT coordinated through approved sources.

Wire EDM

Wire electrical discharge machining for tight-profile forms, keyways, slots and tabs in hardened tool steel and other conductive materials that resist conventional cutting.

Sinker EDM

Sinker (ram) EDM sinks a shaped electrode into the workpiece to produce blind cavities, internal splines and forms — and to remove broken taps and drills without scrapping the part.

Common questions

Torrance, answered plainly.

How far is RJ Enterprises from Torrance?

Our Gardena facility at 149 E 162nd Street sits roughly a ten-minute drive from Torrance's aerospace corridor along Crenshaw and Western, typically 15–20 minutes from Torrance Airport or the Del Amo area depending on traffic on the 405.

Do Torrance customers pick up parts directly?

Yes. Torrance is close enough that many customers schedule same-day or next-day local pickup instead of freight, especially for urgent production releases or first-article deliveries.

What kind of parts do Torrance customers typically order?

Torrance's base of aerospace primes and Tier 1/2 suppliers drives demand for structural brackets, 5-axis housings and titanium fittings, alongside Swiss-turned components for the area's medical device and electronics manufacturers.

Can you support a Torrance company's AS9100D supplier requirements?

Yes — we hold AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 certification under DNV, with material traceability, AS9102 first article reporting and documented in-process inspection built into every release.
