Bone Screw Machining Services in Los Angeles
Cannulated and solid bone screws Swiss-turned complete from Grade 5 titanium and implant-grade stainless, with documented lot traceability on every release.

A bone screw is a small part with almost no forgiving features. The thread form is the function: pitch, flank angle, root radius and lead-in geometry all drive purchase in bone, and a form tool that has drifted a few thousandths changes clinical performance rather than just a dimension. Cannulation makes it harder still — a through-hole gun-drilled down the axis of a slender titanium screw must stay concentric with the thread pitch diameter across the full length, while wall thickness left around it is thin enough that cutting pressure alone can push the part off center. Titanium galls, work hardens and holds heat, and drive recesses, self-tapping flutes and head features all have to be produced without a burr or a stress riser anywhere on the part.
We run this family complete on the Citizen and Tsugami Swiss cells, bar-fed with guide-bushing support so the cut happens within a fraction of an inch of the support and deflection never enters the equation. Cannulation is gun-drilled with through-tool coolant and pecking scheduled to the depth-to-diameter ratio, then verified for concentricity rather than assumed. Thread forms run on dedicated single-purpose tooling that is measured on the Keyence IM-8000 optical system at set intervals through the run, with in-process SPC on pitch diameter and major diameter. Deburring, cleaning, passivation and anodize are managed through approved vendors, and every lot ships with material certification and a documented traceability record in the ISO 13485 style medical buyers expect.

Bone Screw Machining, answered plainly.
Can you machine cannulated bone screws?
Yes. Cannulation is gun-drilled on the Swiss cells with through-tool coolant and verified for concentricity to the thread pitch diameter, rather than being taken on faith after drilling.
How do you control thread form over a production run?
Thread forms run on dedicated tooling, with pitch and major diameter measured on the Keyence optical system at set intervals and in-process SPC recorded across the release so drift is caught before it reaches a part.
Do you provide implant-level traceability?
Every lot ships with material certification, a certificate of conformance and a documented traceability record in the ISO 13485 style, under our AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 quality system. AS9102 style first-article reporting is available on request.
