A bone screw is a small part with almost no forgiving features. The thread form is the function: pitch, flank angle, root radius and lead-in geometry all drive purchase in bone, and a form tool that has drifted a few thousandths changes clinical performance rather than just a dimension. Cannulation makes it harder still — a through-hole gun-drilled down the axis of a slender titanium screw must stay concentric with the thread pitch diameter across the full length, while wall thickness left around it is thin enough that cutting pressure alone can push the part off center.
