Oil and gas hardware asks two things of a machine shop at once: a part that survives an abrasive, corrosive, high-pressure environment, and documentation that proves the material and process behind it. Valve bodies, stems, fittings, sub components and downhole tool hardware are turned and milled work almost by definition — round, threaded, bored, with flats and ports machined into an otherwise cylindrical body.

Our turning centers, several with Y-axis and sub-spindle, machine a chucked body, its ports and its flats in one setup, holding the relationship between a bore centerline and an off-axis port without a re-chuck. Larger housings and manifold bodies move to the milling department for multi-face work.

Corrosion-resistant alloys and hardened alloy steels both run regularly on our floor. Where a customer specification calls for NACE-compliant material handling or a particular heat treat condition, we coordinate the outside processing and retain the certifications against the lot.

Tolerance expectations

Standard turned tolerance of ±.0005 in and milled tolerance of ±.001 in, with thread and seal-critical features verified against print datums on the ZEISS ACCURA CMM before shipment.

  • AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 quality system, certified under DNV
  • Material traceability from mill certificate through to the shipped lot
  • Dimensional verification of thread and sealing surfaces critical to pressure integrity
  • Coordinated heat treat, plating and NDT through approved outside processors
  • Documented in-process inspection at defined intervals through the production run

Can you machine large valve bodies and fittings?

Chucked turning work runs up to roughly 12 in in diameter and 28 in in length; larger prismatic bodies move to milling with travels up to 64 × 32 × 30 in.

Do you certify material for corrosion-resistant applications?

Yes — mill certificates are retained for stainless and alloy steel lots and supplied with the shipment on request.

Can you hold tolerance on sealing and thread surfaces?

Yes, these are treated as critical features, verified against print datums on the CMM before parts ship.

Do you coordinate heat treat for hardened components?

Yes, through approved outside processors, with certifications collected and returned with the finished parts.
